Residential Skills Development Program

This program offers rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental illness living in Residential Care Facilities.
Services
Services are provided within the Residential Care Facility and at the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Life Skills Centre. Instruction and support is provided to facilitate skill development in areas such as:
- cooking
- cleaning
- laundry
- budgeting
- communication
- social skills
- community involvement
- problem solving.
Individual short-term support is available as well as advocacy services. The program also promotes community integration.
Program Goals
Using a group work approach, Rehabilitation Counsellors assist residents with developing various skills that are necessary for living, working, and learning successfully in the community.
Eligibility
Adults, 16 years of age and older, with a serious mental illness living in a Residential Care Facility who voluntarily want to participate in the program. However, all residents are encouraged and welcomed to participate.
