This presentation will be an overview of the DSM-5 personality disorders, including how to recognize them, approach to management, and factors that predispose individuals to developing these disorders. Particular attention will be paid to those disorders that are seen more frequently in clinical practice and are associated with increased use of mental health services.
Dr. Rachel Erstling is a Consulting Psychiatrist with West Niagara Mental Health, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, the Shelter Health Network, and CMHA – Hamilton Branch. She completed medical school at UBC, and residency training in Psychiatry at McMaster University. Dr. Erstling has an interest in working with underserved patient populations in the community. She also has experience working with individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, and has training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
